COLDS AND SORE THROATS PREVENTION


Seasonal flu is caused by two types of virus – type A and type B or C . It can be contracted through the air or by touching our nose, mouth and eyes after the contact with other objects contaminated by the virus. For prevention, a vaccine is proposed every year to protect against the upcoming seasonal flu and to stem the spread of the virus itself.


Unfortunately, we have already learned how to defend ourselves against viruses in the past two years with COVID-19. As a positive aspect, we are now informed and very aware of preventive measures to reduce virus infections.


PREVENTION OF THE FLU VIRUS SPREAD


To avoid infections, it would be advisable to follow some simple hygiene rules such as:

  • wash your hands often;

  • cover your nose and mouth when sneezing with a tissue;

  • ventilate the rooms where you stay.

WHY DO WE HAVE COLDS?

A cold is caused by an infection and it can cause some symptoms such as cough and sore throat. The symptoms appear after the virus incubation period (24 / 48h). Infections can be caused by sudden changes in temperature or excessive exposure to cold and, in some cases, also by stressful rhythms of life.


NATURAL REMEDIES FOR SORE THROAT


Sore throat is a disorder that each of us has had at least once in their life. However, not everyone knows that it is possible to deal with it in a natural way, therefore through home-made remedies:


  • lemon; its high content of vitamin C strengthens the Immune System and it also has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties;

  • ginger; it has disinfectant properties;

  • cinnamon; it has anti-inflammatory properties and an infusion of cinnamon provides relief to the upper Respiratory System;

  • honey; it has anti-inflammatory properties and an immediate soothing effect when taken with hot drinks.

Those listed above are just some of the natural remedies that can be used during a sore throat in order to heal as naturally as possible, without taking anti-inflammatory treatments.

However, it is important to understand the flu as a disease (albeit seasonal) and, for this reason, let the doctor manage a treatment plan.
